Sorry to hear that. I can understand how irritating that must be. I’ve only ever had one cat at a time, trained them well, and never had complaints from neighbours.

I have used holly trimmings in the past be we don't have any holly here.

Why would you want one? Cats rarely stay in one place for long.

We have about five who think the garden is their lavatory. They follow the same route around it as far as I can see, including up onto my deck, peering into my French door, and then off the other side of the deck. At this point, if they didn't make such a smell in the garden, I would talk to them - but they do. I have found stuff that keeps them off the borders but it's madness to keep paying for it if I can find a more permanent solution.

Do you know very young children can be bothered by this and they can’t tell you?
This high pitched noise is sometimes used to make teenagers move on too.

Bellanonna make it uncomfortable. One of my cats started using a piece of grass near the back door and it got really smelly in the hot weather. I covered it with prunings from the mahonia. Really sharp prickles and much to spikey for his delicate little bottom. I left it down for a couple of weeks and when I took it away he'd lost interest and moved away from the house.

Untrue, They’re creatures of habit. Same corner of my garden has been a feline latrine for ages.

My neighbour used one or two in his garden, my cat wasn’t worried but my dog was quite distressed. I think neighbour has a water pistol now for his cat.

Oh dear. I do know someone who has found they work. I think it will just be trial and error.

I'm always worried that these things might frighten or disturb other animals like hedgehogs, also birds. Wildlife certainly doesn't need any more problems.

I knew of a scheme in a place where a lot of ground-nesting gulls formed a breeding colony. Somebody came up with the bright idea of a solar-powered gull scarer, which made loud noises (sound of a hawk maybe?) from time to time. Gulls are no bird-brains and came up with a collective solution: crap copiously on the solar panel to disable it.

I'm sure cats would find their own ways.

I used to have a cat scarer connected to a hosepipe. I was soaked on numerous occasions but I never did see a cat caught out.

There is a friendly cat that just strolls past two scarers to say hello to me and to get into the house if he/she possibly can!

Not sure they work on cats; I have them there to discourage rats as well.

The solar panel charges the unit during the day so it works at night.

Cats prowl around here after dark , don’t think solar would do much to scare them off !
