Singer with Tonsillitis

My daughter trained as an opera singer and also teaches singing.
She says if it’s actually painful to sing then he shouldn’t.
Does he have antibiotics? You can get a two day course of Azithromax. My daughters got it prescribed privately before when she was up against it and needing to get better super fast for a performance.
It has worked quickly for her. Also the anti bac losenges and diflam spray or mouth rinse is very good.
Apart from that, avoid talking and drink loads of fluids. But if it’s still painful to talk / sing by the concert, then he shouldn’t do it.

Also, thanks for your concern re Covid, sepsis etc. we are keeping an eye on him and his Mum is a Specialist Children’s Nurse so he’s in good hands.
He’s actually over the worst now but as the OP he’s still a bit hoarse and is singing in this Concert on Friday.
We’re hoping the Raw Honey and Lemon will help.

We’ve bought a Raw Honey and thanks for the advice to boil the lemons.
I’ll also try to get the Vocalzone lozenges tomorrow.
He’s had a rehearsal tonight and did well considering, hopefully will be even better by Friday.
I just feel so sorry for him, getting tonsillitis after all the work he has put into this show.

Definitely lemon and honey. Boil the lemons and use the liquid to mix with the honey. Also a teaspoon of honey works well on it’s own. Take when necessary.
If you go the the chemist you can buy “Vocalzone lozenges”. Reall helps the voice.

I too was going to suggest the Honey, Lemon (fresh lemons) & hot water but not just as a one off, several times a day, drink & gargle then hopefully by Friday it will have eased.

I have a friend who is a semi- professional singer. They swear by honey, lemon and hot water. They gargle with it.

As daft as it sounds i gave my dc`s chocolate as it lubricates the throat.
And warm lemonade.
I hope he feels better soon.
