EllenVannin, I totally disagree. I wanted to keep my maiden name back in 1968, when I married, but was told, erroneously, by banks and other official bodies that it was impossible as my name was changed legally when I married and also, at a time when no-one did such things, it would cause endless problems when we applied for mortgages etc as at that time co-habiting was beyond the pale.
I have always said since that if my marriage ended, divorce or widowed, I would revert back to my maiden name. My sense of self is based on my birth name not my married name.
