Nurseries closing

I work across a range of early years settings and it's fairly common, more common for a room or bubble to have to close though than the whole nursery.

Thank you! To be clear, none of us is complaining, and we have been able to help, but I seem to have no idea as to whether this was unusual or common, so this thread has helped.

It's awful. Not so bad if parents have family in their bubbles that can care for the children, and/or supportive employers. Otherwise they are stuffed!

At my daughters primary school half of the year groups are isolating due to positive cases, the school kitchen has closed and there are now no breakfast or after school clubs either.

My granddaughter's nursery has just had to close until the new year.
They have so many people self-isolating they can't staff it.

GS's nursery closed for 2 weeks last month and we were lucky enough to be able to provide child care shared between DS, DIL and me. I'm able to work from home and have a great deal of flexibility but quite how the other families manage, who don't have a GP nearby to turn to, I can't imagine.

I think people would soon complain if a nursery did not close after a positive test.

It would be more awkward if a family contracted Covid from an infected child.

Very common.
The track and trace app is apparently largely to blame.
Lots of staff will get notifications and isolate.
