House sharing

Does anyone house share in their own home? I'm 65, and have been running a small B&B in my home for 6 years but am feeling I can't go on for more than another year as I have Type 1 diabetes, M.E., and depression and need to live a less busy life! I love my house and would rather not downsize, so I've been thinking of finding someone to house share to bring in enough money for me to continue to live here. I would be so grateful for any advice and experience, good and bad. Thank you in anticipation!

Bumping this thread I hope you get sound advice. Just be careful of bad renters who might get tenant rights and then stop paying. Someone I know has a condo they rented to a couple. That couple hasn't paid rent in six years and our acquaintance can't get rid of them. He even has to pay their utilities.

Can you take in a lodger/lodgers? They have fewer rights than formal tenants and can be evicted more easily. The government's "rent a room" scheme allows you to earn up to £7,500 without paying tax.

You need to think through what sort of house rules you would want. Access to kitchen/bathroom etc? Whether access to the living room is included? Are they allowed to have visitors? Relatives/friends/partners sleeping over?

I think if you have a lodger they don’t have many or any rights.
You will need to check up on this because I’m no expert.
