Einstein changed the world, de Vinci changed how we look at things ie our view of the world. Einstein for me.

Leonardo. We watched a programme this week called 'The Mona Lisa Myth' or something. Leonardo was unbelievably amazing.

Leonardo. Beautiful art and his invention ideas have all them in happened how could he imagine them in the time that he lived. The Sistine Chapel beats everything

Da Vinci, he was way ahead of his time. I think Einstein had more at his disposal at his time.

BradordLass as I said in the OP, it's not an "argument" as such, more a sort of debate!.

And in a way you can compare apples to pears, as in saying which you prefer (can't stand pears myself)

A difficult one. Leonardo was a polymath so had a broader skill set and was able to apply himself to a wide range of subjects. Leonard was a visionary even in science, but did not have technology or the later development of science to underpin his visions. Einstein was able to apply his work living in a later time to a greater degree.

I think they were equals in their own time(s). We can't really judge who was greater from our 21st century standpoint imho. Having said that if I had a choice of which one I would like to 'meet' then Leonardo would win every time.

I`ve never been one for science, art trumps it every time, so Leonardo for me.

This argument is unsettleable! It's comparing two such different skill sets. We're lucky we had them both.

Oh Leonardo for sure. Einstein was undoubtedly a genius, a scientist par excellence, but he was a bit of a one trick pony, whereas Leonardo da Vinci was the ultimate all rounder

I'm with you phoenix - he was an all-round genius, whereas Einstein was more of a one-trick-pony.

Only on gransnet could Einstein be dismissed thus!!!

I think mentally they must have been about equal, but Leonardo's artistic talent just gives him the edge.

Mr P went for Einstein, and has put forward his reason, but would be interested to hear others reasons for their choice.

AIBU - he is known as Leonardo Like we say “Michelangelo”.
Nobody talks of “The daVinci Cartoon” do they?
The forthcoming exhibitions are advertised as “Leonardo” - not da Vinci.
It’s just that stupid Dan Brown who started it.
