Facial hair

Veet wax strips for facial hair. Cheap and cheerful. With a bit of tweezering in between for those long ones which seem to appear overnight. I’ve tried all sorts of other methods but find waxing is the one I cope with best.

Coolgran - it doesn’t work if you’ve already put moisturiser on.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just take a pill to get rid of facial hair? I pluck mine and then use hair removal cream now and again.
I have an epilator but found it too painful. I also found threading too uncomfortable.

I tried wax strips and couldn't get them to work, probably just me !!
Waxing at the salon is my solution, upper lip, chin, eyebrows.
At a push I have a sneaky with dh's electric razor.

Electrolysis is not a 'one off' treatment, the hair does come back, but gradually weakens until it disappears. Without it I would have a beard to match my DH's grand 'seaman's . beard.

I started around 40, went weekly for about a year, then gradually began to be able to leave more space between treatments. I am now 75 and still have three or four treatments a year. There are a numberless hairs on your face and as one dies off another gets coarse.

But for some of us nothing else works.

I just use a spiral wand-type thing, s bit like threading. You get lots of hairs in one go and don’t need a mirror.

Glenfinnan a few months ago there was a long chat about this subject- maybe you would pick up some hints from that thread?

I use wax strips. It hurts a bit, but you get used to it and it lasts a month or so.

Thank you for asking this question Glenfinnan. I was wondering whether anybody had any advice about the benefits - or otherwise - of laser hair removal and how it compares with electrolysis?

Thank you all for your comments. I had a course of electrolysis and it was painful but the hair came back! Not sure if the operator was really trained! It was at our local private hospital.

The NO NO is expensive and the reviews have not been very good- I would stay clear of it.

There is a face cream which Can be prescribed for this problem. I didn’t find much improvement, but worth talking to a gp maybe.

I have had electrolysis eversince plucking and using a depilator cream ceased to cope with facial hair growth.

I did try epilators but found them useless, Electrolysis is expensive and can be painful, but if you have a serious facial haor problem it is the only solution
