My mother was Grandma but the youngest couldn't sat it and called her Amagnyar which sounds much more difficult and people thought she was foreign! "Granny" sounds just right.

Sorry if it offends anyone. I'm nanny then my first name as is the other grandparent. I called my mum's mum nanny and my children called my mother and husband's mother nanny. If children think nanny sounds a bit babyish when they're older they can always call her nan instead.
