Since my wife has osteoarthritis, one of my things I've been doing for years is vegetable peeling. Recently, my tried and trusted peeler has started to fall apart. It comes from the children always leaving wooden-handled utensils (said peeler, carving knives, paring knives, steak knives etc) to soak in water, rather than washing, drying and putting back in place.
My problem is I can't find a similar peeler to replace the damaged one. This is where I ask your advice. I'm looking for a peeler with a wooden handle that is flattened on the sides for a comfortable grip. the rounded ones don't feel comfortable to use, especially when I'm preparing veg for the family of five and usually a visiting friend of family member. If I was asked to describe the shape, a cross-section would be lozenge-shaped - a rectangle with the corners cut off.
I've looked in countless stores and on-line but I can't find one like the one that has served us well over the years. Have any of you seen something similar? Many Thanks!
