He was supposed to go in one of my Big Fat Father Christmases’ sacks, but it’s going to be a bit of a squeeze, what with a fairy doll, too. Maybe I’ll keep him - at least there won’t be dog hair everywhere, or any whacking great vet’s bills...
I love Hamish, if he’s too big for Santa’s sack, there’s a home for him here. He’ll be well looked after and be kept far away from our enthusiastic, chunky Tom cat Ollie. Ollie would love to play with Hamish ... ?
PS, the truly talented people are IMO the ones who work out lovely designs that are simple enough for knitters like me to make - in this case, the peerless Jean Greenhowe.
It occurred to me the other day (not sure why since Gdcs have masses of soft toys) that he could easily be made quite a bit bigger - (he’s only about 5” nose to tail) by knitting him with a double strand of DK on bigger needles, say old size 7 (4.5mm) instead of a single strand on old size 11 (3 mm).
Only because I’ve been knitting something else like that and it works well, i.e. nice firm ‘fabric’ and the stuffing doesn’t show.
