Halloween has hit the shops already!

This was a Bath and Body Works yesterday. And the prices are astronomical. Tariffs.

It is JULY!

I went to Matalan on Tuesday, hoping to try on and buy several of the things I had seen there two weeks ago when I was buying for my mother . Too late - the autumn clothing is in. I have missed the boat. 😔
Very dull it looked in there too.

It is the same in The Range. The children have only just broken up for the summer holidays today here.
The Christmas stuff will be appearing in the next few weeks, no doubt.

Have you ever asked any of those ghosties etc what it is exactly they are celebrating? I have a suspicion they won't have a clue.

They don’t care!
As my Gdd1 once said, appalled that some close friends weren’t allowed to go Trick or Treat-ing*, ‘But it’s absolutely the most exciting day of the year, apart from Christmas!’

*only because their DM couldn’t be bothered to find any outfits for them.

The shops are already stocking winter clothing.

It’s long been a moan of mine, that it can be hard to find clothes for the season you’re actually in - swimsuits in August, winter coats in February….

I genuinely believe there should be some type of law forbidding businesses from putting on display/advertising things like Halloween, Christmas, etc., until the 1st day of the month that the ''celebration'' lands on.

We're in July, not October, so 3 months before is utterly stupid!

What an utter waste of resources. All that plastic etc.

That’s what I think. Our local garden centre sells unnecessary rubbish most of the year. Their tacky Christmas display is the worst of all. What a waste of the planet’s resources.

I dare say they are all celebrating the joy of childhood, such a fleeting time. Already looking forward to listening out for their their giggles as they run up my drive & their scary little grinning faces .
I dress the bay window at the front with scarecrows and pumpkins to entice 'em in!

I start buying sweeties for Halloween Night weeks beforehand and last year welcomed a huge array of ghosties, witches, monsters and Harry Potters. All so excited to be out in the dark!

The choir I’m in are singing Christmas songs in a couple of weeks at an event entitled “Christmas in July” 😱.

We booked our NYE dinner dance in May!

I feel sorry for those in England who haven't even started their school summer holidays when the supermarkets are plugging Back to School items. It's bad enough here, but least the holidays are well underway!

I make greetings cards, and a web site I buy from are selling their Christmas stuff already

I cannot see this as unreasonable.

I have just made six nativity scenes I hope to sell during Advent this year. I would have been considerably annoyed if a supplier had been unable to supply me with anything I needed, such as a replacement for the angel that fell on the concrete floor of my workshop and broke a wing off.

In his youmg days my husband worked as a window dresser in one of the largest department stores in Copenhagen. They planned the Christmas decorations for each department of the store in June and July, made them, then stored them carefully until the start of December when they were used.

Most big businesses have to be three to six months ahead of the actual date on the calendar in their planning.

What is ridiculous is selling Halloween things now, or even as our local shops are doing "Back to school supplies". The school summer holiday is a fortnight old and lasts until August 8th.

Like to bet that the commercial powers-that-be will be marketing Thanksgiving on this side of the Atlantic soon enough?

It's all about going back to school in the shops near me and they haven't even broken up yet.

I just love it all. I don't buy the 'things' but shops are crammed full with an ever changing array of items always!
Its not as if there is only a choice of 'worthy' mugs/cushions/plates at other times of the year.
I haven't seen anything Fall or Autumn themed yet but will treat (or trick) myself to a new mug hopefully when I get the chance!

I saw a restaurant sign saying that now taking bookings for Xmas day dinner. This was the beginning of May.
