I think it would soon become a popularity contest, and also that people would stop posting if they didn't get enough validation. I also think the board would get slower if people clicked 'like' instead of posting, and that there are those who would delight in a 'dislike/disagree' button if we had one of those.
I use Ravelry, which is about knitting, so maybe you'd expect it to be friendly and supportive. On the whole it is, but there are those who get 'dislikes' for everything they post. I'm not remotely involved in the politics there, so I don't know the finer points, but it's clearly because they have upset someone who has friends. Human nature can be quite horrible when people can be anonymous.
