GP is not providing Covid vaccinations

The surgery phoned me to ask if I wanted the jab. I said yes and they said a paramedic would come ( I am housebound) to give it. This morning I had a standard letter saying I was entitled and how I could get it. If this letter is sent to all entitled what a waste of NHS resources. Cost of postage etc.

We had both flu & Covid jabs in local town hall, organised jointly by a group of GP practices. We were sent texts with wide range of available dates - no appointments necessary; just walk in on any date. All really well-organised - very impressed! West Cheshire.

We are fortunate to have a fantastic surgery in the village. My DH had his civid jab at the main surgery 5 miles away. Public transport available for those who need it as well as a dial-up bus service for the less able.
Incidentally, we also have an amazing hospital in the area. We don't live in an affluent county like Oxfordshire.

I think that is why my surgery was not getting the vaccines in until mid october

If they don’t go online they need to phone their surgery and ask where to get their vaccinations. Probably it’s best to phone early afternoon as morning will probably have queues on the phone lines.
If they don’t drive they’ll need to ask family/friends to drive them, or use a bus or taxi. If they’re unable to travel at all, a nurse or paramedic may well call at the house to vaccinate. That’s what happened to my mother, when she was alive, even though we could have taken her.

Just got my flu and covid yesterday. Im in Scotland though. Health Centres not organising it's regional NHS...Everyone having to travel and I had to book online. Fair enough but what about those that can't drive or don't go online???

My surgery is offering both. I am surprised others aren’t because the practice does get extra income to do them

You can go online to the NHS website and use your NHS No. To book at your nearest place. Its mostly pharmacies. A lot of people are not bothering. So you should be able to book somewhere.

I’ve just had covid so I’m not bothering with the booster.

This time covid was a few days feeling wheezy and couldn’t concentrate very well. Got over it in about a week.

My GP's surgery has never done Covid jabs, but if you are eligible they always send a text or email to advise you with info of where to get your jab from.

Our surgery isn't, as far as I know doing covid vaccinations but our local pharmacy is. Both are offering flu vaccinations.

I rang our GP practice to find out if I could have the flu and Covid vaccination. They have added me on to the list but I was told I will be able to have it if they take delivery of the Covid vaccination supplies currently they havnt got any!

I was notified by text from the local GP and given a link to a web site to make an appointment. All fixed up within a minute or so. The appointment was at a school about two miles away which was easy for me as I drive myself. But not so for those without transport, and for anyone incapacitated as the venue was a stiff walk up from the bus stop. However, I hear that other arrangements are being made.

Our GP used to give jabs but having heard nothing I went to a “walk in”a 10 minute bus ride away and was double jabbed in 5 minutes and on my way home.

Our surgery is not doing them and have only done them once. This year the local new pharmacy is doing them as walk ins. I had already had mine done before I learned that as they had a walk in centre further away which started earlier. We were the first ones there. It is going to be a hard winter Covid is rising fast already

We went to our GP's yesterday and had both flu and Covid jabs at the same time, one in each arm. This morning by flu jab arm aches and my Covid jab arm is fine.

Had my flu jab at doctors surgery Saturday after invite by text but no mention of covid jabs which they have done previously. Booked at a local centre for covid jab on Wednesday. Somerset.

My GP sent a message to my phone and I am now booked in for flu jab next week and covid jab ten days later. Really good service, somerset

There seems to be a mix up in that the discussion is not clearly differentiating between Covid vaccinations and Flu vaccinations.
As an OAP I received an rmail regarding Covid vaccinations and a very clear pathway to the most appropriate facility for me to book. Hence I can drive a mile up the road to a chemist who is offering these jabs.
I don;t think my GP is doing flu jabs, but I think that quite a lot of chemists are offering these too.

Worth having the vaccination as COVID is still with us. Our GP practice is offering it, but it is an additional cost as they have to rent extra premises. No obligation on them to provide this service though.

I am having flu and Covid jags at local community hospital on Tuesday - 2 miles away. Central Scotland. Used to get flu jag at GP surgery but not since Covid. Early Covid jags were in a variety of places - town hall, local college - but never more than 3-4 miles away. It is also possible to have this year's doses at a local pharmacy about half a mile away.

DH was called by our GP for a flu jab and while he was there he was given the Covid one too. The Covid jab is not being advertised as available at the surgery.

We had our Covid vaccinations on Friday at the vaccination center and I’m feeling a bit rough now. I’m glad I didn’t have the flu vaccination at the same time. DH is of course, true to form, absolutely fine.
