Binders. The world has gone mad.

Something is wrong if the reason girls want to bind is to avoid "interest" from boys and men because it means boys are not being taught correctly. If unwanted sexual gaze is a problem it could also be a problem from other females who are interested in females?
It's a woman's right to BE a woman and to BE womanly. Whatever has happened to body positivity and self love? Things seem to have gone very toxic into self hatred and hiding bodies. What is the world coming to? This type of shame about being female is very sad and is not the same thing as being actually transgendered.

Yes, I found it shocking to hear that some young girls may be binding their breasts and causing untold damage to their development because they do not want boys (and men) ogling them!
Rather like the trend for wanting to wear trousers in school because of upskirting. However, trousers are not damaging, are warm and comfortable.

Boys need to be taught how to respect girls and women.

Let us hope that Lush get the message, Doodledog. This stupid involvement in matters which have nothing to do with the business of selling bath products with dubious environmental credentials should come back to bite them. If they get more young customers with low spending power, they may lose more older ones who can afford to spend more, and will now go elsewhere.

WRT binders, I will be interested to see whether Lush 'moves to a different campaign' or however they'll frame it, when they see that the tide is turning on Stonewall. I think it might do them a lot of harm.

My daughter likes one of their ranges, and I usually get her a gift set as part of her Christmas present, but have told her that she'll be getting a different stocking filler this year. She hadn't heard the story, but was appalled when I told her, and will be boycotting Lush herself and suggesting that her friends and colleagues do the same. These things often start with a slow burn that becomes hotter and faster as time passes.

Although for some girls wearing a binder may be a first step to a gender change I think for others it may be linked to sexuality and a girls's need to conceal her body because she feels the signals it gives out to boys do not match her personal level of sexual maturity and so she binds.
It's as much protection as the condom is.

Shouldn't boys be taught respect for girls? It seems that the onus is being put on the girl to hide her sexuality, rather like in some cultures women have to cover themselves in a burka because they are a temptation to men.

Is it pointless to ask trisher I've answered every question you've put to me trisher but you won't answer my questions. I wonder why? Especially those that reiterate that I'm happy for girls to be provided with free binders provided they are dispensed by qualified professionals who will fit them and provide appropriate guidance and why do you not want this pathway? What advantage is there in doing this behind their parents' backs? If parents objected then Gillick competency would come into play. that would probably be right as she won't answer as she'd have to agree her adherence to the ideology means she'd rather sacrifice children's health than have safe dispensing of these products by trained professionals.

The binders have done me a favour. I now know Lush products contain hormone disrupters and other nasties, are not kind to the planet and so much more. I didn't realise the synthetic perfumes were so toxic before.

They can try to get brownie points by going behind parents backs to deform their daughers, but I think we are all becoming more aware of their agendas.
