Yes, a poster came on and was swearing about the Coronavirus. She was clearly upset but the first response on here was a pompous diatribe about not swearing.

When I joined GN my dog had just died... and I was thoroughly mawled by "the GN welcome committee"... and have been ever since...

Sometimes people can make snappy comments as a defence mechanism due to their own fears and being anonymous feel they can say anything. People may have anxiety issues. I try only to listen to news in the evening and am listening to daily prayers on Utube from mine and other churches which are calming and reassuring. I mostly find gransnet helpful as you feel you're not alone especially in these times of isolation but although we value freedom of speech it is not helpful to attack someone else's comments.

I don't agree with the HN splinter group nastiness, but free speech is their right , too.
