I live locally to Balmoral. Charles & Camilla now regard this area as their main home and they spend a lot of time here when not working. They travelled up before he developed symptoms. Apparently, protocol says that the RF line of succession must distance themselves, with the Queen and Philip at Windsor, Charles in Scotland and William & Kate allegedly at Anmer.

Covid was already established in Aberdeenshire - my dd is about to start on her second week of quarantine.

Avalon, sorry but I disagree. I don’t think PC is entitled to special consideration in this instance because he is heir to the throne. Not when there is no provision in place for testing for front line medical staff who are stretched to the limit caring for critically ill coronavirus patients. His symptoms are reported as mild and Camilla has no symptoms yet both were tested by NHS in Aberdeen who do not have facilities to test their front line workers. I wish him well and hope he makes a complete recovery. But he could have self isolated with his doctor who travels with him and leave the vital resources for those who are crying out for them. If medical staff show any symptoms they must isolate with family for 14days without actual confirmation they have coronavirus. They might be well in a matter of days but can’t return to work. Or they might return to work after isolation still untested then become seriously ill or worse because they wrongly blamed coronavirus and assumed they were now immune

They are testing more people in Scotland for a start and Prince Charles was there BEFORE we were told to stay put.

It is typical of the South-centred image that it has been assumed that they were in London and have fled to Scotland when he got the virus. Thank you for correcting that and letting us know that he was already at Balmoral when it struck - and is staying put.

I agree wholeheartedly with Marmight, Suedonim, Elegran, Merlot and all those who are showing basic decency. To gloat over a 71 year- old who has been diagnosed positive says more about those toxic gloaters . . Your grandchildren must be so proud of their grannies!

And imagine the hooha if had not been tested, and he eveloped a very bad case of CoVid19 and died of it. Many people would then be up in arms because the heir to the throne had been felled by something that no-one had bothered to properly diagnose!

I hesitated before reading this thread as I suspected the usual GN's would be out in force carping on about privilege, testing, who cares?.........etc etc.

Where is anyone “gloating”? I think everyone wishes him well. They might not agree with him getting preferential treatment at such a time, but that’s a different issue. Why when anyone criticises the monarchy is it taken as a personal attack on those people? They did not choose their role, that’s an issue in itself, but I don’t see anyone guilty of wishing harm on any of them.

I have just come back on this thread, wow just wow!! A 71 year old Grandather has tested positive for Covid-19, wealth and privilege is not a protector for this virus.

He cannot help being born royal the same as Jo/Joanna Bloggs cannot help being born to a working class council house family

I think some posters are quite sick and I do not mean with the virus.
The other thread about this, the dilemma one, by the usual suspect, is particularly sick.

Grannygravy I stand by my original comment. I wish PC well and hope he makes a full recovery. But I think it was wrong he was able to avail of Nhs testing in Aberdeen while he reportedly has mild symptoms and Camilla was tested while symptom free. My Joanna Bloggs is a front line nurse risking her life alongside her colleagues to care for critically ill patients. There is no testing for frontline staff and they are poorly equipped with protective measures they urgently need.

I wish Prince Charles well, and hope he makes a full recovery, along with anyone else wherever they are, who are unfortunate to have this nasty virus. There's absolutely no need for unpleasantness.

I think the truth isn't that he should not have been tested, but that there should have been provision for NHS staff to be tested also.

I saw that all the royals, in particular those directly in line to the throne, were advised they should leave London and go to their houses in the country. The last thing we need in the middle of all this is a constitutional crisis because several of the direct heirs become ill, or even die. However much republicans wish we hadn’t got a monarchy, at this moment in time we do have one, and we don’t need a crisis with that as well as with the crisis in the nation’s health.

I would imagine that the many people that he has been close to recently will be pleased to know, then if they get any symptoms they can immediately self isolate.
