Any words or phrases that you can't stand?

Why is every preview described as "sneak"?

Why do so many weather presenters talk about "the overnight period" instead of "tonight", "tomorrow (or whenever) night" or just "overnight"?

Made up words - particularly commentators and athletes having medalled. Grrr. To me, I can't help wondering what they meddled with! (Even the spellcheck wants to substitute with modelled)

Why must fashion writers always describe a white shirt as ‘crisp’? I’ve also seen a shirt described in a catalogue as ‘our crisp white shirt in softest cotton’, which makes no sense

Oh and when people say, “That was very fun!” NO. It was fun.

So - before every sentence.
Infuriating!

It's time we lost the term OAP. When the pension was introduced, the recipients may have considered themselves as 'old aged'. I am old enough to have received mine when I turned 60 and certainly didn't consider myself 'old aged'. I'm older now - quite a lot - but I detest the description of 'old age pensioner'.

So fun No it's such fun! AAARRRGGHH!

Also the new obsession people have with adding No to the end of a sentence he Way Americans have done for years. Example “the moon looks silver, no?”.........I find it confusing and annoying ?

Aw I love the word Bairns but the one phrase that I cannot stand to listen to is “it is what it is” aaaargh so many tv shows now have participants who say it over and over and they apply it to every situation a minor event or a major event drives me mad

"Epicentre" in connection with the coronavirus. It means the point on the earth's surface over the focus of an earthquake, not the centre of an outbreak (or anything else). "Centre" is a perfectly good word!

After a horrific flood or disaster.
“We are working closely with the family “
“ We sympathise with the bereaved” but.....
“ We are working hard to see that it doesn’t occur again “

Sorry it should say ‘objection to the use of these words’ and ‘some of the younger teachers’. Forgot to check before posting.

I really cannot see any objection todo e of these words like moist (and tasty) - I use it with regards to cake etc. What is the alternative? You can hardly calla cake damp!! Why do people associate it with intimacy?
I agree about gusset - an ugly word let alone the associations.
Words I object to include most swear words - I hate it when people use ‘shit ‘ or ‘crap’ - it paints a picture of faeces in my mind immediately. Why can’t they say ‘rubbish’ ? Some of the you get teachers before my retirement used to say things like ‘that class was crap today’ ! I’d say they were awful, appalling etc - lots of other words!

Lucca I am still laughing as I type! I do so understand! I dislike 'tasty' for similar reason, There is something too intimate and physical about these terms so that it is information we don't need or want.

Oh god I’m with you on the “moist”. Every time my partner (sorry if you hate that word but I am Too old for boyfriend maybe I should say gentleman caller?). Has some cake I have to pre empt him by snarling “don’t say it”
