Eugenie’s wedding

I've decided it's time we had an Act of Parliament restricting those eligible for security at the public expense and limiting the members of the RF. So only Queenie and the direct heirs would be allowed- say to 5th place. The rest could then go off and live in the real world.

Although I am a fervent believer in the monarchy, I have to say I agree with this. I would like to see the monarchy slimmed down so that only the monarch and immediate heirs have things paid for by us, the people. Only the Queen and Prince Philip, Charles and Camilla, William and Kate and Harry and Meghan should be supported by us. Others should in every way finance themselves. I agree that the Princess Royal (Anne) is a good example of how they should live.
I have absolutely nothing again Eugenie, but she should get no costs towards her wedding or the security in any way.

Let them have their wedding but honestly, a carriage ride - does she think she's Katie Price ?

That sentence applies to ALL the RF Iam64 they live in a world of their own where the country is newly painted and beautiful well dressed ,well fed children ,arrive with bouquets of flowers simply because they turned up to open a curtain hiding a plaque and shake some hands.

I agree with those who say the public purse covers the security needed for the Queen, Philip, Charles (even Camilla), William, Kate and children, Harry and Meghan to attend Eugenie's wedding. I have no time for Andrew, his ex wife or their children. The girls seem to believe they're celebrities with royal privileges.

Zara doesn’t work, she has a hobby which takes up a lot of her time, access to her grandmother’s stud farms which is most certainly a great help and she and her family live on the Gatcombe Park Estate, a gift from queenie to Anne , 24 security too.

Andrew has never got used to the idea that no one is that interested in his girls has he? Apart from his rather dodgy trips abroad he never seems to do much himself, and of course he hasn't got a wife to accompany him and add a bit of interest. Edward does better because Sophie Wessex is very popular and their children are kept in the background apart from the occasional wedding. I expect there will be a fair few tourists in Windsor who will want to see an actual princess but it's hardly the wedding of the century is it?

I do agree, no problem with a wedding in Windsor, but a carriage ride that requires a security sweep and presence paid for out of the public purse is totally unacceptable. They should pay their own security or keep rhe carriage ride to Windsor Great Park. As others said Zara married the same summer as William, and made sure she chose somewhere far more low key. The press give the York girls so much coverage they must think people are interested. I was interested to see a picture in today's Times of Zara back to her job already riding at an event, no maternity leave for her.

I don't know why she thinks she has to copy Harry, it won't go down well with the public if a large amount of public money is spent on security. The Royal family need to slim it down to the main players. The Yorks are already seen as somewhat entitled, too many holidays and not enough work. I can't remember what Zara and Peter Phillips did when they both got married, but Zara in particular always seems to strike the right notes, I think it was a fairly private affair and that's what Eugenie should be doing

The Yorks do seem to have an overblown sense of their own importance but how are they going to keep a lid on Fergie?

I agree Princess Anne works very hard and keeps her family low profile. Dont think we can say the same about Prince Andrew and his family. Why can’t they just go to the church and minimise the security risk. Perhaps they would if they were footing the bill.

It will be interesting to see how many will be lining the pavements of Windsor on the day of the wedding. I agree wholeheartedly with the comments about Princess Anne and her family. I don't think Eugenie and Beatrice have ever lived in the real world and she wants her fairytale wedding like her cousin.

Prince Andrew is worth £50 million plus so if they want to ride n the carriage then they fork out the cost to protect themselves.

As senior royals will be there I don't have a problem with it other than the carriage ride. If she wants to have the same limelight as Harry who is closer in line to the throne then they should pay for it themselves.

Absolutely agree sodapop. I have nothing against the girl, but I think it is time she and her father realised that she is a Z list royal and nobody, apart from some passing tourists, is interested in her or her nuptials.

Like the rest of us, her wedding is, hopefully, a time of celebration and happiness for her family and friends and very important to them, but to nobody else.

My H's care, shower and help with dressing every day and one day day care, 9:30am to 5pm costs me £ 400 +each month.
I really dont like that my local authority are paying towards this.
My own wedding, 60 years ago cost approx £100 , am I just being bitter and cynical? You bet.

Wish Andrew and family would take a leaf out of Anne's book. Princess Anne and family work hard, keep a low profile and certainly don't take advantage of their heritage,

I did hear it say the newly married couple will take a carriage through Windsor, if this is correct then I certaintly don’t agree with security for this . St George’s Chapel is in the grounds of Windsor, the guests can stay in the castle , no need for anyone to leave the castle grounds . She is a granddaughter of the queen but a minor royal . Peter Phillips married in the Chapel without the publicity, it has also been reported she is inviting people to enter the castle grounds as Charles and Harry did, if true then again I disagree with this.
