Eugenie’s wedding

AIBU to think that we should not have to pay the security costs for Eugenie’s wedding? Apparently she carries out no royal duties at all. I read that the money will come from local councils that apparently cannot afford money for car for the elderly, potholes etc etc. Really do feel that that particular branch of the Royal Family are not particularly good value and that is putting it very politely!

I’m off shopping but that will allow for lots of suitable candidates to be nominated!

Of course, if we need to spend £2M to protect the public so be it.
But Daddy should have said a firm NO, then they would just have rough it in the grounds at Windsor.

HOW ON EARTH DID I MISS THAT ?

annep Tue 21-Aug-18 12:11:27

A better use of time I think Jalima ?

Jalima1108 Tue 21-Aug-18 13:03:54

Struggling though, annep grin
Time for a break

Anniebach Tue 21-Aug-18 13:12:15

gilly, the queens four children lived on their own estates not state owned palaces.

Queenie has three state owned properties, she owns two which were left to her in her fathers will. Charles has one state owned property and owns three, one was willed by his grandmother , one he bought in Wales, very small, and Highgrove. Edward and Anne have one property each and an office each in St,James , do you think their staff should move into their private homes. Many people in this country own two properties.

Jalima1108 Tue 21-Aug-18 14:54:55

Some people have very blingy yachts too.

He doesn't live here so presumably doesn't pay UK tax. Perhaps that's one way of getting out of contributing to the RF, become a billionaire tax exile.

trisher Tue 21-Aug-18 18:04:27

The Queen owns some of the best real estate in the country. Some of the income is paid to the state, but the Duchy of Lancashire revenue is hers uk.businessinsider.com/how-much-of-the-uk-does-the-queen-own-2017-6/#the-savoy-london-the-queen-privately-owns-an-18433-hectare-estate-called-the-duchy-of-lancaster-it-is-administered-separately-from-the-crown-estate-part-of-that-is-the-savoy-estate-a-stretch-of-prime-real-estate-in-central-london-which-houses-the-iconic-savoy-hotel-long-seen-as-the-height-of-sophistication-1

Jalima1108 Tue 21-Aug-18 18:10:58

That's what I was trying to say trisher - thank you. Their private income pays for their life apart from the business of State which is paid for by the taxpayer.

Compared to other very rich people their life style is hardly lavish and 'bling' - it's more horses, dogs and head scarves.

trisher Tue 21-Aug-18 18:21:15

But the fact is they are rich and therefore should pay the expenses of the wider family them selves not expect it to be paid for. If Eugenie wants a carriage ride she should go to see granny and ask, or ask her dad. Rich people pay their own way.

Jalima1108 Tue 21-Aug-18 18:26:13

I did say I didn't agree with the carriage ride - not a great idea.

Perhaps her parents thought it could be a nice thing to do!

Jalima1108 Tue 21-Aug-18 18:29:01

We're not paying for the wedding but we are paying for the security - is it more expensive because of the carriage ride? I think we would be paying for security for those members of the RF who have security provided anyway.

It's just a sad world that it is needed at all.

Anniebach Tue 21-Aug-18 18:36:01

Security has to be high, at least queenie doesn’t drive around in a convoy like some presidents.

Anniebach Tue 21-Aug-18 18:37:19

Right who shall we elect for president of the U.K?

Jalima1108 Tue 21-Aug-18 18:45:15

Someone who is neutral politically
Is rich enough not to be corrupted and to keep themselves, so that the taxpayer is only paying for what is required of a Head of State, Head of the Commonwealth
An indefatigable charity supporter - perhaps with a family who could help out there when required
Someone who keeps their opinions to themselves
Respected around the world
Treats Presidents, Kings, Queens and commoners alike
Won't spend millions electioneering
Turns all the lights off in Buck House to keep the costs down
Doesn't go to the msm when the roof of said Buck House leaks like a sieve and the Government won't fund repairs

um, thinking hard.

I know - HM The Queen?

Anniebach Tue 21-Aug-18 19:00:01

May I add , be willing with his/her family to be patron or president of over 3,000 charities . The present head of state is patron of over 600 charities.

oldbatty Tue 21-Aug-18 19:25:53

perhaps even the not keen on Royality folk, see how hard working and decent the Queen is.

I think the problem lies with the next lot down.

Eugenies bash is ill timed.

gillybob Tue 21-Aug-18 19:48:37

I haven’t got an issue with her maj but please don’t make her out to be some poor frugal old lady sitting in a hovel with a leaking roof , shivering because she can’t afford to use the gas or electricity .
Poor old soul , Next she will be living on tinned soup hmm

Doubt it will happen in my lifetime so there will be a king charlie and queen camilla . I sincerely hope that our children and grandchildren will eventually see sense and get rid of her ever increasing brood of benefit scrounges .

Anniebach Tue 21-Aug-18 19:57:03

batty, the next down are Charles, Anne and Edward

Charles founded a charity foundation in 1979, £100 million raised last year, it has branches in Australia, New Zealand and other countries. Charles is never given credit for his work, and he is patron of many UK charities.

Anniebach Tue 21-Aug-18 20:00:20

Gilly, queenie has four children. Charles two children, so when Charles becomes king the immediate royal family will be halved.

Would you care to name these every increasing scroungers ?

gillybob Tue 21-Aug-18 20:00:40

I bet he works his bloomin’ socks off Annie ( or rather others do and he attends a fancy bash every now and again) . Putting your name / title to something doesn’t equal work . In my opinion that is .

gillybob Tue 21-Aug-18 20:06:00

I was sure you would know them better than me Annie but off the top of my head...... Her maj , phill, Charlie, camilla, Anne, eddy, Andy and all their husbands, wives, kids and their kids and their kids .......

Anniebach Tue 21-Aug-18 20:10:53

Yes Gilly, your opinion, but an opinion isn’t fact is it, you can check on the court circular his public appearances .

I admire Charles, I realy believe he is a compassionate man and has never run for cover when under the most vicious verbal attacks, I remember when he was still in school and one paper ran a ‘get his ears clipped down Ma’am’ front page . A child ?

gillybob Tue 21-Aug-18 20:16:16

I only ever said it was “my opinion” Annie and you are perfectly entitled to “fight his corner “ . Personally I don’t count shaking hands or cutting a ribbon as work at all .
