I think perhaps that anoyone who doesn't seem to be enamoured of Jeremy Corbyn's political position is now regarded as right wing. I suppose, relative to him, they might be, but that doesn't make them actually right-wing on the full scale.

I still,post on the politics thread , still centre left, still a remainer , but I am not a prominent member , I know my place ?

I think that if a few posters changed names I might possibly rumble them because they have a very distinctive style, but overall I get to the end of a thread and can barely remember who said what. I also don't always notice who hasn't posted because there are so many threads and I don't read them all. It was easier in the beginning because there were fewer of us and it wasn't too hard to keep track, but now I often find it hard to put a 'personality' to a poster as I get too mixed up.

Absolutely tegan. The posters who have left did not make personal attacks unless severely provoked.
They argued with facts and references not with insults

Baggs too, I am not enamoured with JC at all- I am indeed furious at his sitting on the fence re Brexit- and not seeing that it will mostly affect those who is supposed to help.

It does seem that many who refused to say that JC is anti-semite, or supports those in LB who are or seem to be - were accused, directly or indirectly, of being anti-semites themselves. I am 100% NOT anti-semite, but 100% against the illegal occupation of parts of Palestine and the violence and injustice against Palestinians. TWO absolutely and totally separate issues.

If anyone accused me of being anti-semite - I would certainly object strongly and ask GN moderators to stop the accusers (if it is what has happened??? perhaps).

I agree that anti-Semitism and being opposed to actoins by the Israeli government are separate issues. I don't recall seeing any confusion of those ideas on GN.

I'm not a fan of Corbyn; in fact, I don't trust him at all. But I don't understand why the news media attack him endlessly when that lying scumbag Farage gets away [media wise] with everything he does...

Whether their disappearance is linked to this- as said, difficult to know. Been busy like you, visitors, etc - so not been much on GN over Easter. Bizarre.

The members mentioned were 'prominent' on certain threads and were the reason that I didn't go on those threads much. In my mind they then became much less 'prominent' because I wasn't seeing their names so much.

Baggs makes a good point. And, imo, GN will never be right wing but could very easily be to the right of Jeremy Corbyn.

I do not have the time or the inclination to do much reading and research for my views but feel I am entitled to take a view on anything political based on my knowledge and experiences without derogatory, passive/aggressive remarks being passed.

Oh yes, and invited again and again on Question Time and other programmes. Same for BoJO- who seems to put his foot in it and lie non -stop and is still - Foreign Secretary- the job requiring the most agile and sensitive, clever diplomatic skills ( )

As for the posters who left being attacked personally, not at all, only the content of their posts.They were all extremely
‘Robust’ and active on the political threads for years, they are not ‘victims’ so let us not pretend otherwise.

Still their voices will be sadly missed; even, I hope, by people who don't share their political views. It will be a sad day if GN becomes a forum only for discussions between like-minded people.
