M&S Jeans

paddyann I was at a writers event last night and one of the other presenters was a 'Scots language' poet. I understood every word of it. I was wondering what was so special about it until I saw the audience's faces - every one registered blank incomprehension!

I have actually seen Mom jeans in our local store. Couldn't tell much difference. I also saw 4 ladies (including me) telling the poor 'jeans' specialist that M&S out to sort their jeans out and not have so many skinny jeans and don't they know that their core market is people of our age!

It could be that M&S ship to the USA and that you got onto their site. They have two flags to choose where you are shipping to.

I know it's used in parts of the UK, but in such contexts as M&S it would just sound American to me, and irritate me like mad.

Having said that, I have 2 pairs of M&S skinny jeans which I've had for over 2 years, have worn and worn endlessly - almost non-stop during colder months - and they're still going strong, have never gone baggy.

My DH, who is from Lancashire, has always called me 'mam' to our children. (Sainsburys straight leg jeans are very good - I usually wait till they have a 25% off weekend and get stocked up then.)

phoenix NYDJ ( not your daughters jeans) lift your bottom and are very comfortable to wear. They are very expensive and are from the US.

I have 3 pairs of the Mom jeans, they are not skinny they are high waisted and very comfy. roses I hope I don't look like Max Wall in them?

You are right, DD3'S partner calls his mum 'mom' and he's from the black Country.

I keep saying it now and realise that I say 'mom' and not 'mum' but I would always write it as 'mum'

Mom just sounds so American and I must admit I didn't realise that people from Birmingham and the Black Country said 'mom' - or spelt it that way. I am from the posh parts just further north myself.
I do remember Dudley Zoo and riding an elephant there when I was little.

Jalima, Birmingham is not part of the black country. Dudley is and has very different accent and the Brummies call them yam yams.Does it matter if you are mum or mom.My boys call me mum.

would be mammy in Glasgow ..or maybe not now everyone is discouraged from using regional variations.My friend got very annoyed when hher grandson was being taught old Scots words at school ...after she'd "spent half his life trying to stop him speaking like that ..the queens english should be what everyone speaks" I love old scots words ,they are much more descriptive than the ( proper) english versions .I love winding up my son in law with words he has nevr come accross and frequently refuses to believe exist..lol

Ah ok, didn't realise Mom was used in areas of the U.K. I take it back M&S, sorry.

Personally I think it would take a bit more than some elastane/denim combination of fabric to elevate and remodel my derrierre, perhaps if someone could design a sort of "bottom braces" device, that performs a bit like a bra, but for the buttocks, ...........

My DH is from originally Birmingham and he always writes Mom
It looks odd on a greetings card that has Mum on the front
His DM also writes Mom.

My DC use Mum.

My sort of sil from the black Country calls me a mom!

I have just bought some m&s jeans online and just dismissed mom her b s.
