Organising events when nobody turns up.

I am a member of a social club and the members get £5 for every event they organise.
I have been a member for 15 months and I have organised 49 events.
The membership fee is £40 a year so I have paid £50 for membership and have claimed £195.
The problem is nobody has ever turned up at an event I have organised.
The club has given me notice that they will only pay me the £5 organisers reward 4 times a year but there is no limit for anybody else or they will refund £ 20 for my membership up to 31 December 2013 and terminate my membership.
Can they put a special rule in for 1 member?. I have broken no rules.
The club can not say the events have not been organised.

More power to your elbow Frank. grin

I suggest that their not turning up to events you 'organise' means they are pissed off with your behaviour. I suggest that you Take The Hint.

That was an answer to your bit about the rules being changed only for you. Don't you see that it's the other club members' way of saying "Stop it, Frank!" ?

Either that or they want you to get so pissed off with them that you'll leave the club.

Maybe because nobody else abuses the rules, Frank.

Bags

The problem is they are not changing the rules for anybody else.
I have organised three 5 mile walks and gone to do the walk by myself the day before to check all is ok and nobody turned up even though a dozen phoned to say they would be coming on each occasion.
That was most annoying.

Other members have organised things in the same way and people do turn up.

Frank Please tell me you are winding us up. As Absent says what exactly did you organise. As I see it you just told people what was on at the theatre. I'm suprised that a man of your principles can be so money grabbing.

If what you say is true, you are interpreting the rules too literally rather than using them in the spirit in which they were made. So I don't blame the other members for wanting to change the rules to stop you fleecing the club.

I think you are running a racket, Frank. Chancer.

absent Fri 28-Jun-13 00:50:20

If you had to buy your own tickets and travel by train, what exactly did you organise?

glammanana Thu 27-Jun-13 23:57:19

anno I could include a bucksfizz in with the breakfast package with a few slices of smoked salmon one has to keep up appearances even at that time of the morning I might add.

HUNTERF Thu 27-Jun-13 23:26:52

Hi ginny

It was buy your own tickets direct from the theatre if you wanted to go and the transport to the theatre was the train.
I will get my £5.

So Frank if you organised a theatre trip, who paid for the tickets that nobody wanted ? Was there a coach ? Who paid for that ? I think you are pulling our legs !

absent Thu 27-Jun-13 23:20:04

Not much socialising then?

HUNTERF Thu 27-Jun-13 23:01:27

Is that for breakfast after a 5am run, glamma?

glammanana Thu 27-Jun-13 22:21:35

The next event that you decide to organise give me a call I only charge a reasonable £195.00 for a standard buffet for 30 which would accompany your event and surely bring in more members and it can be served in your club house/meeting room.

Babs1952 Thu 27-Jun-13 21:57:43

Any events on the first of April? wink

absent Thu 27-Jun-13 20:02:32

HUNTERF So, having organised it, did you go for a run at 5am on a Sunday morning?

annodomini Thu 27-Jun-13 19:07:34

Just mystified about the whole situation, Frank. It strikes me that it's time your club changed its rules about organisers getting paid but not by results!

Ariadne Thu 27-Jun-13 18:02:14

I cannot imagine why people don't turn up.

HUNTERF Thu 27-Jun-13 17:00:37

annodomini

Why are you mystified.
5am is a good time to run.
Nobody gets in your way.

Deedaa I remember Pippa Dee parties. In my newly married struggling financially days I always felt obliged to buy something. And buying a 'party
Susan' at a Tupperware party which rarely saw the light of day. Always went along as everyone else was going. Happy days!

annodomini Thu 27-Jun-13 16:47:40

Mystified! confused

Charleygirl Thu 27-Jun-13 16:46:52

I could not afford the train fare + a night at the theatre. I would also have to spend a night at a hotel as I doubt that trains would be running to London quite so late.

My London pension would not stretch that far.

Deedaa Thu 27-Jun-13 16:45:41

Many years ago I was coerced into having a Pippa Dee party (Remember them?) I hadn't lived in the area long and although I handed out invitations only one of my neighbours turned up. The three of us sat round eating the cakes I had made and my neighbour and I felt duty bound to order something. I have NEVER agreed to do anything like it again grin
