Organising events when nobody turns up.

I am a member of a social club and the members get £5 for every event they organise.
I have been a member for 15 months and I have organised 49 events.
The membership fee is £40 a year so I have paid £50 for membership and have claimed £195.
The problem is nobody has ever turned up at an event I have organised.
The club has given me notice that they will only pay me the £5 organisers reward 4 times a year but there is no limit for anybody else or they will refund £ 20 for my membership up to 31 December 2013 and terminate my membership.
Can they put a special rule in for 1 member?. I have broken no rules.
The club can not say the events have not been organised.

Glammanana Sounds delicious. I am assuming that I do not have to go on the run to partake of the delicacies?

Oldgreymare Fri 28-Jun-13 09:45:11

Is that why I feel so gullible when I respond to them? blush

Greatnan Fri 28-Jun-13 11:13:02

Would Frank keep on posting if nobody replied?

Iam64 Fri 28-Jun-13 13:28:35

A long time back, I think in the 70's (but then again, my memory aint wot it used to be) there was a spoof writer with a name along the lines of Herring (or some sort of fish?) who used to write rather ridiculous pompous letters to the 'rich and famous', purposely antagonizing them. He published a book of the letters and responses. I wonder if Frank's related to himhmm

Marelli Fri 28-Jun-13 21:21:27

Red Herring perhaps, Goose? wink

Goose Sat 29-Jun-13 00:05:15

No...it wasn't Herrings, or fish. I've just remembered, it was Henry Henry Root

Goose Sat 29-Jun-13 00:10:00

...(but only with one Henrygrin)

Greatnan Sat 29-Jun-13 06:39:12

I think the difference is that the pompous asses didn't suss out Henry Root, whereas some of us.....................

I thought this was a joke when I first read it but then realised after reading additional comments from Frank that he is serious.

Here are my comments for that they are worth.

If I organised an event and nobody turned up I'd put it down to bad luck.

The next time I thought of an idea for an event I would canvas people asking if they were interested in coming and take names of people who would be there.

If no one turned up at the event I would contact the named people and ask for feadback.

Clubs for different reasons have events to get folk together to get to know each other and have an enjoyable time and to generate money in the main I guess.

I can well understand that the club are concerned that they are not generating income but have additional expenditure which they cannot afford.

Any member who has their heart in the club and it's well being and continuation would not want the expendute to rise, I get the inpression you are not that person.

I reckon you need to think why you are in the club and if it doesn't meet your needs move on.

Are you a member of U3A they have a membership fee of £12 and many interest groups which you may find of interest.

They do not however pay members fees for organising events they expect members to do their bit to help each other.

I am struggling to believe he is serious confused

glammanana Sun 30-Jun-13 13:36:27

KakyK I do believe he is serious I just don't believe that he has not realized the other members of the club are not interested in his events.hmmI also think he should re-pay the £5.00's back into the club treasury for the benefit of the other members and future successful events.

KatyK Sun 30-Jun-13 13:40:10

Glamma that is the bit I can't get my head around - that he hasn't realised ! I think I would have realised after event number 2.

glammanana Sun 30-Jun-13 13:41:40

The only time I get up at that time of the day is when I have to catch an early flight somewhere grin

I have been doing some research while on holiday.!
On my table were a delightful couple who live in Sutton Coldfield.!
They own a small dog called Fergie!
Neither of them have 'London Pensions'
They live in a four bedroomed detached house in a nice area of Sutton Coldfield.

THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF FRANK

This substantiates my theory that he is a construct!

However, Andy may well exist!

KatyK Sun 30-Jun-13 14:00:26

I would love to know the truth ! I live near Sutton Coldfield. It covers a large area.

vegasmags Sun 30-Jun-13 15:00:36

Galen - hilarious! I am quite sure that if he did exist, he would be well known to everyone in his area grin

JessM Sun 30-Jun-13 17:15:34

Maybe they do not have any inheritance issues that they need advice on? Or have not tried to join an exercise class? grin

numberplease Sun 30-Jun-13 17:19:40

I think that Frank ought to go blue, and show us photographic evidence of both his, and Andie`s, existence.

Ella46 Sun 30-Jun-13 18:10:54

So do I number grin
Shall we have a vote?

Ariadne Sun 30-Jun-13 18:43:00

Yes!!!

Butty Sun 30-Jun-13 18:53:25

Dream on!
