Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

merlotgran Sat 22-Aug-15 20:19:06

grin Nellie We're working out whether there's room for Heather from a Jig-Saw?

What are we like??

Nelliemoser Sat 22-Aug-15 20:13:35

Oops! The picture of Brookfield is Top left.

Nelliemoser Sat 22-Aug-15 20:12:15

Here is an artists impression of the photograph I once saw. This is an Ambridge jigsaw puzzle. To me it looks big enough for Heather as well.

Nelliemoser Sat 22-Aug-15 17:19:50

Alea No it is true it really is. Don't destroy my illusions. shock shock shock
Just to compare the Eastenders plot writing with the Archers, it appears that Eastender Kathy Beale (actor Gillian Taylforth) did not, as reported, die in a car crash in South Africa and is due to return.

(According to this weeks Radio Times. )

As I saw Jill not more than half a mile from my house she could have my spare room, we are up a steep hill though and by the looks of her she has what my friend calls 'bungalow legs' (unable to walk upstairs).

Jill has a secret house overlooking the Thames you know. shock

Alea Sat 22-Aug-15 13:58:29

Nellie " acting" remember? gringrin

Nelliemoser Sat 22-Aug-15 13:35:12

There used to be a picture of Brookfield farmhouse on the Archers site.
From what I remember it looked like a large half timbered house.
Now if that was a grade2 listed building they would have trouble to build any extensions. further complications wink

I am still trying to find an old photo.

Gracesgran Sat 22-Aug-15 12:54:15

As I said before they have moved into emergency mode and can't get out of it. Nothing can be done in a hurry and they are going to have to talk to Heather with an SW present if necessary. Either she can live alone but supported or she can't and that needs to be clarified. If she can live with David and Ruth, where there will not be constant care, then she can live at her own home with support and may prefer to do so. If, as seems to be the case, she needs to go into a home permanently then they need to make the case for her staying in Prudhoe or moving closer to them. She does not want to go into a home, or leave her own home, so they have a lot of talking to do and needs a SW and the medical staff to help them do that.

Can the writer's please stop panicking and do this properly. Throwing Jill out of her own home is not the answer and it is a terrible thing to do.

What do you man Jill Archer isn't real? Or any of the Archers? shock
You'll be saying Father Christmas. . . Easter Bunny . . . the Tooth Fairy.,. . I can't take much more shock shock
grin

suzied Sat 22-Aug-15 08:37:00

Jill could go and stay with Shula till the extension was built
Or David and Ruth or the boys could sleep in a caravan
Or maybe even a loft conversion for the boys
Sorted.

Luckygirl Fri 21-Aug-15 21:58:07

Don't tell anyone, but she's not real - shh!

NanKate Fri 21-Aug-15 21:52:47

Well Luckygirl when I met Jill Archer (Patricia Greene) outside M&S last Christmas she looked very shaky on her legs, so where she finds the energy to clean, cook and generally keep Brookfield going I don't know. hmm

merlotgran Fri 21-Aug-15 21:26:36

The boys are already sharing a room, Grannyeggs, thanks to Bert being in Josh's room....or is it Ben's? confused

All they need to do is sell Heather's house and build a state of the art extension with wheelchair access etc., and put them both in there.

Hang on though.....Where are they going to put Heather in the meantime hmm

Grannyeggs Fri 21-Aug-15 20:57:50

I agree*suzied*. Surely the boys could share a room, and as you say it's a farmhouse- it's a ridiculous plot line!

suzied Fri 21-Aug-15 20:18:51

It's a rubbish plot line. I don't know how many bedrooms Brookfield has, but if it's a decent sized farmhouse I don't see why they can't accommodate both Jill and Heather even if it means Ruth and David sleeping in a caravan in the yard on a temporary basis. They could even build an extension.

Luckygirl Fri 21-Aug-15 20:14:16

Seems barmy to me! Heather does not want to be at Brookfield; Jill does. So......boot Jill out and wheel Heather in kicking and screaming. Great.

It is such an improbable plotline - Jill is the lynchpin of Brookfield - she cooks, cleans and keeps the show on the road.

Gracesgran Fri 21-Aug-15 19:54:31

That sounds like depression to me merlogran. Kenton, I mean.

Apparently the stairs in Rickyard are the problem and the new person looking after the cows is going in there. However, if Heather is coming to stay won't Ruth want to get back to the cows? It's all wrong to treat Jill in this way although people in that position would not feel they have a choice.

merlotgran Fri 21-Aug-15 19:19:50

Get a grip, Kenton. hmm

Gracesgran Fri 21-Aug-15 18:58:49

No one as far as I can think phoenix. Could Heather, who wants her own home, live there with care on hand and care bought in? Jill would prefer to be part of the family I think.

If they need a specialist in getting care - or not being able to - from the system, I could offer my experience. grin The big thing they have in their favour is that Heather has a physical illness and not dementia.

Anne58 Fri 21-Aug-15 08:57:51

What about Rickyard Cottage? Who's living there at the moment?

Gracesgran Thu 20-Aug-15 22:16:38

Very harsh merlotgran but she is on emergency mode. You're right about Bert. Surely if he goes back to the bungalow there will be room.

merlotgran Thu 20-Aug-15 21:54:39

I'm not sure but Ruth said something along the lines of, 'She has other children to care for her and my mum hasn't.'

Harsh! hmm

Luckygirl Thu 20-Aug-15 21:46:09

I have lost the plot a bit - are they booting Jill out of the house or just that room?

merlotgran Thu 20-Aug-15 20:40:15

Poor old Jill. First she's expected to up sticks and move to Prudhoe, then she puts her foot down and decides to move in with Shula (or was it Elizabeth?) No need, however because nobody's going to Prudhoe after all so......carry on baking for all and sundry (including Bert who still hasn't moved out)

How thrilled she'll be when she's told she'll have to vacate Pip's old room - even though Pip's moving out so that Heather, who didn't want to move down to Ambridge in the first place, can have it!

hmm

Luckygirl Wed 19-Aug-15 13:50:46

My friends went through all the planning process and building of a small extension for a grandfather who died a couple of days after he moved in. sad
