Alea. Your post at 16.10. Brilliant !!!! If anyone could mess with their brains, it's Soontobe. And the best part is, she doesn't know she's doing it.
Interference by Trump in the World Cup.
Blair took us into the Iraq war (to keep his American allies happy) and the Middle East was de-stabilised.
Its even more unstable and Cameron seems keen to send bombers there, presumably to keep his EU allies happy (given his negotiations...).
ISIS/DEA-SH thrive on chaos. They are a death cult aimed at hastening the end of the world. (Day of Judgement, Islam style).
Given the chaos in Syria and Iraq with all the different factions on the ground and Russia joining the throng in the air I cannot see why joining in would be either helpful or wise.
The poor civilians on the ground are now in fear of Assad, De-ash/ISIS and the bombs.
Cameron's arguments are thin.
Here are some more arguments on the other side voxpoliticalonline.com/2015/11/27/how-many-innocents-will-die-because-of-right-wing-labours-petulance/
Your MP will be heading back to their constituency to think about this over the weekend.
If you are against the bombing please, please write to your MP.
You can use this very easy site. You just type in your postcode and the site will ensure that your MP gets your email. They will be getting lots of emails on the subject so there is no need to be long-winded, so it's a 5 minute task. www.writetothem.com

A very reasonable, calm and measured performance from Corbyn this morning on the Marr show this morning. Nice to hear a political who is spin-free for a change.

But they get criticised just as much for taking their families with them. I haven't heard anything about Aylan Kurdi's father lately, after he returned to Syria with the bodies of his family. Kobani is still one of the places being bombed.
I do not think we should judge those who choose to flee - they are doing more good to their families by trying to find somewhere safe for them all to live. How the heck can they choose which faction to fight or to fight for? - they are caught up in hell and mayhem and just want to find a safe haven. And soon they will need a safe haven from us and our bombs no doubt. I do not blame them., and would not presume to judge them - I have never been faced with this sort of impossible choice.
soon - what the heck was your bible link supposed to add to the debate?
and
. Let's just stick to the facts.
Frank gardener said over 100 factions
I still don't understand how they can just leave their families behind. They can't really believe that they'll be able to 'send for them' when they reach a place of safety, surely?
The problem, roseq, is that they do not know who they are joining, or whether they will change allegiance in a few months time. There are so many factions in Syria.
Why should anyone who doesn't want to partake in it, be made to?
Not made to, but a wish to defend all they hold dear; freedom, their families etc.
No, Greyduster, my OH was on the Ark Royal from 1961/63 (RO 9) The post war one, but not the final one!! Before that, he was on the Eagle, after college.
oooops sorry rosequartz
Although some are quite scary
I thought rq meant Gransnetters. And I was silently agreeing with her.
Our men knew who and what they were fighting for, if this country had an army of the crown killing the people and groups of terrorists fighting the crown were also killing the people , would they have tossed a coin and joined in with one lot or the other
Tossed a coin? Or joined the group they believe in?
It has happened so many times in so many other countries from time immemorial that I can't see why these young men are different.
oooops sorry rosequartz
I have every sympathy for the men who flee Syria. War is so positively outdated. Why should anyone who doesn't want to partake in it, be made to?
anniebach I wasn't meaning the posters on here - I was meaning some of the people pontificating in the media and in some of the links we can follow - they all seem to have the answers.
I wasn't meaning a posse of gransnetters
You could be our secret weapon soontobe, did you ever see yourself as a WMD??
Anyone else just got a catering career advert for the RAF? Does it mean what I think it means?
But we are killing thousands by just sitting and sending drones in from the US. We do not need to have soldiers on the ground; we can just kill everyone in Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and pretend we are an army.
Cleanse these awful islamic countries. Might kill a few Christians on the way, but that will not matter. Collateral damage is okay providing we kill the devils.
If your country is being dismantled by your "legitimate government" and the chaos has bred a long list of factions, all fighting each other, what on earth does "fighting for your country" mean?
No idea rosequartz , perhaps you should ask your question to each poster, those for bombing and those against bombing ?
Why do young men flee their countries instead of fighting their oppressors?Already millions have left, must the country be emptied of all except ISIS. If our country is under threat we have to defend ourselves, because where can we all flee to? I would appreciate your views.
Our young men had no choice if called up and comparing the enlisting in the British army to the men in Syria not having an army to join is pointless
Our men knew who and what they were fighting for, if this country had an army of the crown killing the people and groups of terrorists fighting the crown were also killing the people , would they have tossed a coin and joined in with one lot or the other, whilst being bombed by five countries ?m
No way
My word, there are so many people out there who are so sure of what is the right way to solve all these problems that I cannot understand why they are not running the country; they just post all their great ideas on these websites to which we get links.
Are they all mouth and no trousers?
So it was okay for our soldiers to join of their own free will, but Syrians fleeing Daesh are supposed to go back there and fight on any side, so long as they fight,
The side they support? Our soldiers - ours? British? not Syrian? Whatever happened to patriotism and fighting for your country?
If all our brave young men had fled rather than join up in WW2 Britain would be a very different place today.
"Cameron’s plan involves bombing Daesh (IS if you like) from the air, while supplying ‘moderate’ rebels in order to use them as ground troops. It’s a recipe for disaster because there is no guarantee that any such funded and equipped group will not rise up and become the next Daesh. Many have done it in the past, and if Cameron reckons there are 70,000 of these people – a figure he cannot prove – that’s plenty of possible future terrorists.
(He got this information from the same source that told the UK Saddam Hussein could bomb British bases within 45 minutes; take it with a pinch of salt.)"
