Southend/Rayleigh/Ca nvey Island Area meet up

Count me in. I hope there are lots of local Gransnetters who would like to meet up.

I was brought up round there - but now live miles away. Went to school in Rayleigh, lived in Hadleigh.

conor have you got any suggestions for a venue?
Some of us drive some do not, so close to a Station would be good.

Brings back happy memories as we lived in Rayleigh from when we married in 1961, until 1968.

Are there any nice venues near Benfleet Station as that seems quite central?
Don't know the area very well as never get off at that station but there must be a nice coffee/lunch venue nearby?

There is one nice coffee /tea shop which does tasty food about 10 minutes walk from Benfleet Station several places in Old Leigh which is a short walk from Leigh Station.

I do not know anything about Southend, perhaps Sar53 knows more about that area?

Southend, the high street and around the stations, Southend Central and Southend Victoria, is all pretty dire these days.
I could easily take the train to Benfleet if it helps.
Are any of the tea/coffee places open in Old Leigh during the week in the winter ?

I live in Langdon Hills and on the Fenchurch Street line so can go anywhere along the line to Shoeburyness. Benfleet seems quite central. I have grandchildren duties on Tues/Wed and volunteer in school on Thurs. So that leaves Mon or Fri or weekends of course. Happy to fit in whenever?

I could do Monday 10th February as expecting grandchild no 3 towards the end of the month and need to be on stand by!! Can anyone else make that date?

Sorry I can't do the 3rd, 10th or 17th. Blood test one of the days and visiting daughters on the other two. I could do the 24th or a Monday in March.

Have you tried Il Pescatore in Queens road. Excellent Italian food run by the family.
Manolys ( Thai) in Leigh broardway is probably the best Thai outside London.

Rayleigh has so many restaurants and coffee shops. 10 minutes walk from station.
