Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Not Barnsley, but Sheffield. I’ve never been to Barnsley itself, just some surrounding places!

I lived in the Barnsley area till I was 13, at Hoyland and Elsecar, but a good bit further away now, sorry.
Incidentally GreyD, I went to school in the Sheffield area for a couple of years, at Ecclesfield Grammar.

My family comes from Barnsley, mother born in a mining village near and father born in Cudworth.. Dad was a railway clerk at Sheffield station so they came to live in Sheffield when they married.
I could meet up in Sheffield as I'm visiting beginning of October. I live in Germany and visit family in Rotherham.

Hi Margaret, sounds like a plan, will see if we get other interested parties, perhaps arrange a coffee and cake somewhere between Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley x

Katy I have no car so am reliant on Taxi or bus. I've also no idea where you could go for a coffee in Rotherham, there seems to be only little places and no where to talk.

Unless we go to Meadowhall all routes lead to Meadow hall so I have heard and there really is lots of parking space and the bus and train station.

I normally have to be dragged kicking and screaming to Meadowhall; but could make an exception . And the tram runs there.
