The illustrations in the book were lovely but we weren't the biggest fan if honest. Not all children are brought up religious so I wasn't a fan of the God bit. It also didn't hold her attention for the whole of the book. But I loved the idea of reinforcing please xx

Both myself and my 6 yr old Grandson give a big thumbs up to Give Please a Chance. He is behind the rest of his class at reading, and needs encouragement to read. The books illustrations made him pick it up again and again and together we finished the book with him able to read the text after a few visits to the book.

Thankyou for the book, it really has beautiful illustrations. My grandchildren are - one year old girl, five, six and seven year old boys and another girl aged nine. I got the chance to read it with my six year old grandson and nine year old granddaughter. My grandson has some problems sounding out so it was nice to sit with him going through the simple text and talking about what was happening in the pictures and why "please" was in each of them even though it wasn't always obvious. As we went through, he found it easier to tell me, without much prompting, exactly what each child was actually asking. Once finished I asked if he enjoyed the book and if he knew what it is teaching. "Yes" he liked the book very much and and it was "to teach children to be polite and have manners" - to remember to say please!

I did submit my thoughts on this book straight away, they were accepted but now seem to have disappeared ?

They received this for Christmas and really enjoyed looking through it.
The illustrations are lovely and the overall idea is nice but as others have mentioned not all the situations necessarily call for a "please" in this day and age, and would've preferred it to be secular.
Overall it's a nice book and is a good way to start conversations on when to say please.

Thank you for the book. I have 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 year to 6 and half. I have read it with all of them. The smaller ones enjoyed the illustrations and we talked about the situations a lot. The book is well illustrated and the idea of teaching a child to say please (and thank you?) is good. However, in my opinion, I am not sure that all the situations require a 'please' and a couple were quite ambiguous. We didn't like the addition of the God one as the grandchildren have not been brought up to be religious but we explained that some children are and would say please to God if they believed in a God. The six year old challenged some of the situations and asked if please is necessary for all situations. Otherwise it is a very nice book.

My granddaughter is 4 and she loved this book. It was actually really interactive and she loved adding Please at the end when I paused. It's really great to reinforce the lessons her parents are teaching her.

I like the illustrations done by different artists in the book. My three year old grand daughter enjoyed looking at the pictures and completed the sentences with 'please'. It did not hold her attention all the way through, so will have to read the rest of it to her later. On the whole it is a lovely book with some funny situations in it, plus others to think about. Very well balanced and an excellent aid to teach children the magic word, 'please.'
