expat Grans

I emigrated from the UK a couple of years ago. I did win a book while I was still in the UK and one that was sent abroad electronically about 18 months ago but I don't generally enter competitions.

I have heard that lots of "ex-pat" forums can be quite tedious – mind you, so can Gransnet occasionally – so I have no desire to join one.

I live in both Cyprus and UK, and can use the UK address when entering competitions, not that I have won anything yet!!!

I live in Belguim and have recieved 3 books so far and entered a poetry competition once, unsucessfully, I had pointed out to GN that the cost of postage within the EU is not really much different to the UK and also that the competitions are open to those living in the Irish Republic.

Welcome to GN pollypepper I live in Germany, have done since I was 33 and love GN because I get to know whats happening in the UK and how people feel about it.
I've been a member since the very beginning and am content to stay here. I dislike expat sites.

Do your grandchildren speak Bulgarian or are they bilingual?

Another migrant here pollyp. I remember having a moan about the competitions a year or so ago, and the response was that it was to do with the terms and conditions of the companies that are based in the UK, and that GNHQ are simply facilitators. I am sure GNHQ will correct me if I'm wrong. I have won a competition, and was able to get it delivered to an address in the UK. Perhaps this is possible for you?

I've been a member of GN almost since the beginning, and certainly wouldn't like a separate site.

Loads of us on here are migrants to other countries. Pollypepper. Yes the competition thing does make you feel a bit cross from time to time and it would be interesting to know why we are excluded. I would not want a separate site, though.
