GRAND in grandparents is for the _Grace we wake to now _Rare love only we share with our children' s children _ Adoring our babies and toddlers and kids _New life bringing joy in special ways _Daily counting our blessings we share
Grandparents get to be the 'good guys' We never judge, we never interfere, we are never that nosey, but then we get to give them back at the end of the day! We've been parents, now we get to be the 'Grand' parents
Generous with their time & experience. Relieving their children with babysitting sessions Adventurous & willing to be silly Never too tired to play Demonstrating good behaviours & habits!
Great times sharing the love, fun and future of a grandchild; Real joy to see a new life in the family; A sense of wonder and delight that your child shares this beautiful child; No drudge, just pure joy! Doting, (and did I mention) Doting and even more Doting?
My nanna was my best friend & confidante, she was my world when I was a little girl and I think having a grandparent is crucially important to a child. I
Grand is not getting stressed out by their temper tamtrums like mum and dad do. Being calm, patient, reasonable and teaching them good behaviour. It's being able to spoil them just a little. It's having fun with them when mum and dad are too tired too. It's being on hand to look after them when mum and dad are at work.
Being constantly amazed - and proud: When I watch our little ones grow and develop their own personalities.... When I admire their mums' (and dads!) skills and patience in developing their little ones... When I see my now-retired hubby (a former high-powered MD) on his knees playing with, or chasing, them, catching up on his precious time lost on play with their mums.... When I listen to my partially sighted 87 year old mum and my disabled 56 year old brother singing nursery rhymes with them...... Yes, life is certainly GRAND for this GRANDma!!!!!
I love making my grandkids laugh, being silly and not laughing at them, but laughing with them. Listening to their problems, no matter how silly. I am just grandma to them, always willing to have them sleep over, and keep them safe.
